Out of School Time Safe Haven
God Made Me To Glorify Him, Inc. in collaboration with Highest Praise International Ministries, Inc. is a faith-based community outreach program that has become a safe-haven for "at-risk youth" in the Poinciana Polk County Florida area. We originally began meeting in 2003 in Hammond, Indiana on Saturday afternoons for bible stories, games, arts & crafts, lessons on various cultures & cuisine, drama and music lessons, field trips and occasional sleepovers. In 2007 we relocated to Kissimmee, Florida and in addition to our original program have evolved into an out-of-school-time safe haven. Many of our youth come not only on Saturday afternoons for our weekly GOYE Ventures get-togethers, but even during the weekdays. We have built a network of faithful volunteers and friends. Our board members are from various parts of the United States.
Our program offers youth an alternative to sitting in front of a television watching hours of mindless, sexually explicit or violent programs. It offers youth an alternative to hanging in the streets and possibly becoming involved in gang or drug activity. God Made Me to Glorify Him, Inc. (GMMT) builds self-esteem and encourages children to have respect for the world they live in. It encourages children to respect their parents, teachers, others and themselves. Our program teaches that violence is not the answer. We teach that you are not a “nerd” because you want to do well in school and achieve good grades. We teach that you are not a nerd because you want to become a doctor, an engineer or the president of the United States. GMMT believes that it is important to set goals and to work hard to achieve those goals.
